Platform Engineering Leadership

Julius Sediolano

Head of Platform Engineering | Building Internal Developer Platforms on Kubernetes | Multi-Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) | Enabling Product Teams at Scale

About

I’m a Platform Engineering leader with 10+ years of experience building and operating cloud-native platforms that enable product teams to ship faster, safer, and at scale.

I specialize in internal developer platforms, Kubernetes-based operating models, and DevOps tooling across AWS, Azure, and GCP, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and self-service.

As a people leader, I’ve built and mentored high-performing platform teams, defined multi-year platform roadmaps, and partnered closely with application, security, and leadership stakeholders to align platform strategy with business outcomes.

I actively integrate AI-augmented workflows into platform engineering leveraging generative AI and automation to accelerate incident response, improve developer productivity, enhance infrastructure decision-making, and prepare platforms to support AI-driven workloads responsibly.

My philosophy is simple: platforms are products. I focus on reducing developer cognitive load, standardizing golden paths, and making the right thing the easy thing.

Open to conversations around platform strategy, developer experience, and scaling engineering organizations.

Experience

Senior Manager, Platform Engineering — Deltek

Jan 2025 – Present Manila, Philippines
  • Own the strategy and execution of Kubernetes-based platform services supporting multiple cloud providers.
One of your key milestone was to move from Ansible Automation Platform to the AWX upstream project.
My team deligently compared feaures were using in AAP vs AWX, and concluded that 99% of the features we use are present in AWS.
This move is not primarily motivated by cost savings but to mitigate exposure to complinace audit of our AAP license.
And lastly, saving a significant cost in licensing for features were not even using is something to be proud of.
  • Lead and mentor a platform engineering team responsible for CI/CD, automation, and internal tooling.
  • Define platform standards for deployment, observability, and security in partnership with application and security teams.
  • Drive adoption of self-service and cloud-native workflows to improve delivery speed and platform reliability.
  • Act as a bridge between engineering leadership and hands-on platform teams.

Senior Principal DevOps Engineer — Deltek

Apr 2022 – Dec 2024 Makati, Philippines
  • Architected and operationalized multi-cluster Kubernetes platforms across AWS, Azure, and OCI.
  • Led Kubernetes modernization initiatives and set technical direction for reliability and observability.
  • Standardized monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry across applications.
  • Mentored senior engineers and raised Kubernetes maturity across teams.
  • Reviewed and evolved Terraform and Ansible codebases to support long-term scalability.

DevOps Engineer 4 — Asurion

Jan 2015 – Apr 2022 NCR, Philippines
  • Partnered with stakeholders to design AWS infrastructure for applications and delivery pipelines.
  • Led initiatives to improve Jenkins CI/CD using reusable build and deployment pipelines.
  • Drove Kubernetes proof-of-concepts and adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Standardized Terraform as Infrastructure-as-Code for consistent, technology-agnostic provisioning.
  • Mentored operations engineers transitioning into DevOps roles and supported technical hiring.
  • Contributed to security best practices and secure infrastructure awareness.
